Grand Canyon Hikers and Backpackers Association

Mary Simpson - Past President

I am a lifelong resident of Northern Arizona from a pioneer family that came to Flagstaff in the 1880s. My childhood was spent out of doors in Chinle, Flagstaff and Sedona areas of Arizona.

Since 1966 my husband and I have worked in our businesses at Cameron on the Navajo reservation. I've been running the grocery store there since 1975. I work part time now and spend a great deal of time with our three grandchildren.

My husband and I discovered Grand Canyon in 1975. I guess it has become an obsession. We have hiked most of the trails with names and a few routes. I care very much about keeping access to the canyon as easy as possible for everyone that has an interest in it.
